3 Predictions for APSCU 2013

The Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities Annual Convention & Exposition is just around the corner. Taking place from June 5-7 at Rosen Shingle Creek’s Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, it is considered the leading conference for private sector higher education. Bringing together over 300 exhibitors and over 1,500 attendees from the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, the APSCU provides a forum for companies specializing in private sector colleges and universities to discuss the issues that will be affecting us in the future.

As a leader in the field of enrollment generation, Neutron Interactive has three predictions for “hot topics” that are sure to be discussed at this year’s convention.

1. Compliance Under the New Laws

In October the FCC Telephone Consumer Protection Act will introduce new laws with harsher punishments for violators. School and lead generators will need to work together to make sure they are on the same page and staying compliant and up to date with the newest rules. The lead generation process will need to become more transparent for students in order to help them make informed decisions. You can bet that these new laws will be discussed fervently on each day of the convention.

2. The Continued Growth of Mobile

Right now 1 in 4 people use their mobile phone as their sole form of internet access, and with the growth of personal tablet use and the rapidly expanding power of mobile devices, that ratio is only going to increase. This new generation wants their computer in the palm of their hands at all times, it’s important to realize this and start to focus on developing marketing campaigns and websites that are compatible across all mobile devices. Doing this is the only way to make sure we’re always hitting our audience where they are now and not where they used to be.

3. Going Beyond Lead Generation

In the past, students used to be thought of as just a name to pass along to the school, but that has been changing. We are no longer interested in having students known to us as just large groups of names, we want to know about the entire student experience. From the enrollment process, graduation rates and job placement.  Focusing on the student experience beyond the initial lead is beneficial to the school and to the student.
